A hotel in Maple, Udupi, belonging to the father of Hazra Shifa, one of the petitioners in the hijab row, was attacked by a mob on Monday. Hazra has tweeted about the attack and her brother was attacked by the mob.
A hotel belonging to one of the petitioner’s (Hazra Shifa) father was allegedly attacked on Monday, February 21. The incident took place in Malpe in Udupi district. Hazra had filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court regarding the ongoing hijab row.
Hazra has alleged that the brutal attack was carried out by Sangh Parivar goons and she demanded that action be taken against them. In the tweet, she also confirmed that her brother was attacked. He is now being treated at the hospital.
Following the incident, Hazra Shifa tweeted, “My brother was brutally attacked by a mob. Just because I continue to stand for My #Hijab which is MY RIGHT. Our property were ruined as well. Why?? Can’t I demand my right? Who will be their next victim? I demand action to be taken against the Sangh Parivar goons. @UdupiPolice.”
On Monday, the Karnataka High court continued hearing the hijab row. The Advocate General stated that hijab is not an essential religious practice. The bench will continue hearing the case at 2.30 pm on Tuesday, February 22.
